Award Description

The American Physiological Society (APS) and the Goyal Family Charitable Foundation(GFCF) share the mission of advancing the study of gastrointestinal and liver physiology through the exchange of scientific ideas and creation career development programs. Thanks to a grant from the GFCF and the Raj and Prem Goyal Fund, the Gastrointestinal & Liver Section (GIL) is pleased to offer the Raj and Prem Goyal Lectureship in Pathophysiology. 

This award, selected by the GIL Section Award Committee, recognizes exemplary contributions of research in physiology in understanding the mechanism and treatment of gastrointestinal and liver diseases. Awardees will deliver a lecture at the American Physiology Summit and will be recognized at the GIL Section banquet.

Eligibility

The applicants must:

  • Be an APS member in good standing. 
  • Be a member of the GIL Section. 
  • Be a mid-career professional (e.g., associate professor level or within three years post-promotion to full professor).
Criteria

This award is by nomination only. Self-nominations are not permitted. The nomination package includes:

  • Curriculum vitae.
  • Nomination letter from an APS member.

Applications are only accepted via online submission.

 

 

Award at a Glance

Award amount: $1,000, plus reimbursement of the early registration fee to the American Physiology Summit and complimentary admission to the GIL Section banquet.
