Award Description

The Henry Pickering Bowditch Award Lectureship is awarded to a regular American Physiology Society (APS) member who is 42 or younger at the time of the Bowditch Lecture, or who is less than eight years from the start of their first faculty or staff research scientist position beyond postdoctoral training. The lectureship is awarded for original and outstanding accomplishments in the field of physiology. 

Selected by the APS Executive Committee, the Bowditch Award recipient presents a lecture at the American Physiology Summit. The lecture may be considered for publication in the Society journal of their choosing.

The Bowditch awardee will receive their award and participate in special events at the Summit. The recipient will select 10 posters of abstracts submitted in their research field to receive poster awards. 

APS membership is invited to submit nominations to the Bowditch Lecturer via online submission. You must be nominated for this award. You can not self apply. 


Eligibility

The nominee must:

  • Be a regular APs member who is 42 or younger at the time of the Bowditch Lecture.
  • Be less than eight years from the start of their first faculty or staff research scientist position beyond postdoctoral training.
  • Be an APS member for two consecutive years.

Criteria

The application requires the following documents:

  • Two nomination letters detailing the individuals status, contributions and potential
  • Nominee's Curriculum Vitae.


Nominations are only accepted via online submission.
