The American Physiological Society (APS), ADInstruments and InsideScientific are pleased to announce a one-hour Translational Science Panel featuring three international researchers. This program will include presentations, panel discussions and live Q&A sessions that address important topics for researchers who want to progress their preclinical research models into the translational and clinical sectors. Speakers will include Aaron Phillips, PhD, an assistant professor at the University of Calgary in Canada, Fiona McBryde, PhD, a senior lecturer at the University of Auckland in New Zealand and Kevin O’Gallagher MBBS, PhD, a clinical research fellow and interventional cardiology registrar at King’s College London in the U.K.

Webinar topics include:

  • Planning basic science protocols for translational and clinical relevance;
  • Bridging the gap between preclinical and clinical parameters;
  • The importance of relationship building and connecting with the right clinical researchers; and
  • Grant funding, commercialization and navigating ethical considerations.
Speakers

Aaron_Phillips_400Aaron Phillips
Aaron Phillips, PhD, an assistant professor at the University of Calgary in Canada, was trained in biosciences and mathematics. His appreciation of the elegant interactions between the nervous and cardiovascular systems, and how these interactions are disrupted in clinical conditions, has driven his research into the development of novel therapeutics for people with neurological health issues.

Fiona_McBryde_400Fiona McBryde
Fiona McBryde, PhD, a senior lecturer at the University of Auckland in New Zealand, is an integrative cardiovascular physiologist with a particular focus in the relationships between autonomic activity, blood pressure and organ blood flow. Her recent research interests include static and dynamic pressure-flow relationships in the brain in hypertension and stroke, and the regulation of venous tone and compliance.

Kevin_OGallagher_400Kevin O’Gallagher
Kevin O’Gallagher MBBS, PhD, a clinical research fellow and interventional cardiology registrar at King’s College London in the U.K.is a cardiologist and clinical researcher. He completed his medical training at the University of Oxford and Imperial College London. O’Gallagher earned a PhD in cardiovascular medicine, with research on nitric oxide signaling in the cardiovascular system. He specializes in performing complex in vivo mechanistic studies in the cardiac catheterization laboratory.
